August brings a major set of updates to Clearstory focused on two things: better visibility into Change Orders before problems become costly disputes, and deeper connectivity with the systems contractors already use.
This month, we’re introducing Work in Place Reporting, new Change Notification reporting, deeper CMiC capabilities, Procore Change Event Status Sync, a new Acumatica integration, and an improved Web API.
We’re also rolling out several highly requested workflow improvements—including the ability to copy CORs, better connect CORs to Change Notifications, and track integration activity directly from the COR Log.
Here’s what’s new.
Good Change Order management depends on understanding what's happening while there is still time to act. Most change order problems don't appear suddenly: they accumulate quietly. By the time most teams realize there is an issue, the window to recover the cost has closed, relationships are strained, and someone is eating the overage.
Work in Place Reporting is now live, expanding the reporting available to teams tracking active project work inside Clearstory.
We’re also introducing Change Notification reporting, with additional Change Notification health metrics now available in the Contractor Snapshot. This gives teams another way to see how changes are moving through a project and quickly identify activity that may need attention.
Several additional reporting improvements provide more context:
Days Aging exports can now be generated at the Company and Project level in PDF, CSV, or Excel formats, making it easier to analyze and share aging data outside Clearstory.
We’re also adding a Revision Date Submitted field to the COR Log and COR detail panel. When a COR goes through multiple revisions, teams can now see when each individual version was submitted rather than relying on a single date to understand its history.
Together, these updates give project teams a more complete picture of work in progress, outstanding changes, and the individual COR revisions moving toward resolution.
August also brings significant improvements to how project and financial data moves between Clearstory and the systems contractors already rely on.
For CMiC customers, Clearstory is making project setup significantly easier.
Teams can now pull a project from CMiC along with its associated contracts and vendors through a guided workflow, bringing more of the information required to get a Clearstory project up and running in a single step, and eliminating mismatches between contract data in CMiC and what's tracked in Clearstory.
A new CMiC contract import also allows teams to bulk import contracts from a CMiC project, including:
Instead of rebuilding this information manually, teams can bring it directly into Clearstory and get to work faster.
Procore Change Event Status Sync is entering closed beta.
With this capability, the status of a Procore Change Event can appear directly in the Clearstory COR Log.
That means teams using both systems can understand what is happening with a Change Event in Procore without leaving their Change Order workflow simply to check its status.
Clearstory’s new Acumatica integration is also entering closed beta this month.
The integration continues to expand the financial systems that can connect with Clearstory and is another step toward making Change Order information easier to move between project and financial workflows.
As Change Order workflows become increasingly connected, customers need more flexibility in how Clearstory communicates with the rest of their technology stack. This month, we’re rolling out a new and improved Web API and beginning the transition away from Clearstory’s existing legacy API.
The new API provides a stronger foundation for building and expanding integrations, allowing Clearstory to deliver new integration capabilities and improvements more quickly over time. Customers currently using the legacy API will receive information directly from Clearstory about migrating to the new version.
We’re also making integration activity easier to track.
Integration activity will now appear directly in the COR Log activity panel. When information is pushed or updated through an integration, Clearstory will record the activity along with the person who initiated it. These entries are marked as internal-only, creating a more complete audit trail for internal project teams without exposing integration activity externally.
As more Change Order information moves between connected systems, teams can now see not only where a COR stands, but also when information moved and who initiated the action.
One of our most requested workflow improvements is here.
Teams can now copy an existing COR and use it as the starting point for a new COR within the same project.
Reusable information (including line items, pricing, descriptions, attachments, and other COR details) can carry over automatically. For repeat work, phased releases, or similar scopes, teams no longer need to rebuild essentially the same COR from scratch and risk introducing inconsistencies each time they do.
It’s a simple improvement that can save significant time across projects with a high volume of Change Orders.
August includes several additional improvements designed to remove small but frequent points of friction from Change Order workflows:
Add users directly to projects. Project Managers and Admins can now add users to a project even when those users are not already part of the office, removing an extra administrative step from project setup.
Connect sent CORs to Change Notifications. Teams can now link sent CORs to Change Notifications from the Received Log, creating a clearer connection between the original change and the CORs that result from it.
Updated shareable logs. The COR Share Log has moved into Clearstory’s updated interface, while the T&M Share Log now has an improved experience as well.
These updates also lay the foundation for additional functionality coming to Clearstory’s shareable experiences.
There’s a common theme behind August’s releases: bringing more of the Change Order lifecycle together in one place.
Work in Place and Change Notification reporting help teams understand what’s happening across active projects.
Deeper CMiC, Procore, and Acumatica integrations bring important project, contract, vendor, financial, and status information closer to the Change Order workflow.
Improved activity tracking creates a better record of what happened and when.
And workflow improvements like copying CORs eliminate repetitive work teams encounter every day.
The result is a more connected view of every change from the moment work begins through pricing, review, integration, and resolution.
