Change orders don't live in a single moment. They start in the field, move through pricing and review, get tracked against budgets and allowances, and eventually land in your financial system. The friction in that process has always lived at the handoffs between tools, between teams, between what's happening on the project and what's visible to the people managing it.
This month's new feature release is built around those handoffs. From a rebuilt Allowances experience to an open beta of the COR Pricing Agent, June is about making the full change order lifecycle faster, smarter, and easier to manage from end to end.
A Rebuilt Allowances Experience
Allowances are only useful if they reflect reality. But on many projects, teams are working from outdated balances, manually tracking overdraws, or maintaining separate spreadsheets just to understand what's actually left. When allowance data falls behind the job, forecasting and decision-making suffer.
That's why we rebuilt the experience from the ground up.
Allowances sit at the center of how teams track budgets, contingencies, and not-to-exceed (NTE) commitments across a project. The redesigned experience gives teams a more accurate, intuitive way to manage them every step of the way.The create and edit flow has been redesigned with clearer, more intuitive controls in place of the previous tab-based logic. The allowance log and detail views now feature customizable, reorderable columns, a new timeline view, and a dedicated column tracking original versus current amounts, so you always know where a budget started and where it stands today.
First-time users can now browse the log without being required to create an allowance upfront, making it easier to explore and adopt. Allowances can now go negative to reflect overdrawn scenarios, and both GCs and SCs can enter negative amounts on COR draws to credit value back when needed. Draws can also be flagged as forecasted, giving teams visibility into planned future activity before it hits the books.
On the NTE side, internal allowances can now be applied to sent CORs without affecting the customer-facing allowance, keeping internal tracking clean and separate from what your customer sees. Amount remaining calculations have also been corrected to reflect the true balance at each stage, so teams always have an accurate picture of what's left.
Clearstory AI COR Pricing Agent Now in Open Beta
Pricing a COR often means hunting through contract terms, rate sheets, previous change orders, and supporting documentation while someone is waiting for an answer. It's detailed work that's difficult to standardize, easy to get wrong, and one of the biggest bottlenecks in the change order process.
Clearstory's COR Pricing Agent changes that.
Clearstory’s COR Pricing Agent changes that. Available now in open beta, the agent works directly inside the Create Detailed COR form. Describe the work in plain language, attach supporting documents, and let the agent help you build out or refine COR details and line items, all without leaving the workflow you already use.
The agent supports three modes depending on how much control you want to hand off. Ask mode lets you query the COR without making any changes. Plan mode surfaces recommended updates that you can approve or deny before anything is applied. Agent mode updates the form directly based on your prompts. You stay in control at every step.
This is the first Clearstory AI feature available to customers in open beta, and it represents the beginning of a larger vision: AI built into the workflows your teams already use, on every side of the change order.
Change Notifications UI Update
On active projects, design changes arrive constantly. As notifications pile up, it becomes harder to see what's new, what still needs action, and which changes are at risk of slipping through the cracks. Project teams end up spending more time organizing information than responding to it.
The redesigned Change Notifications experience makes that process significantly easier.
The Change Notifications page has been updated with a redesigned interface that makes it easier to track, review, and act on incoming design changes. Updates include improvements to both the Change Notification Log and the Change Notification Detail views, giving project teams a cleaner, more organized experience for one of the highest-volume workflows on any active project.
A New Home for Integrations
Integrations should reduce administrative work, not create more of it. But as organizations grow across multiple offices and business units, keeping integrations configured consistently can become another system that someone has to manage.
The new Integrations Management System brings all integration configuration and settings into one central place, and allows a single configuration to be used to set up multiple offices, reducing setup time and keeping everything easier to maintain as your organization grows.
Two new integration updates round out this month’s release.
Creating a new project shouldn't require entering information that's already sitting in your project management platform. Manual setup takes time, introduces avoidable errors, and delays getting teams into production.
Procore Project Import (currently in closed beta) eliminates that work by creating Clearstory projects directly from Procore, the same way our HCSS project import works today. That means no more manual project setup when the data already exists in your system of record.
CMiC Contract Mapping brings the same contract mapping capability that Procore teams have had to CMiC users. You can now easily map CMiC contracts to Clearstory contracts so that contract, budget, and vendor information flows automatically when pushing CORs, eliminating manual re-entry and reducing errors across the workflow.
Built for Every Stage
From the field to the forecast, this month's release is about removing the friction that slows teams down at every handoff. Smarter allowance tracking, AI-assisted COR pricing, cleaner change notification workflows, and better system connectivity help teams spend less time on administration and more time moving projects forward.
